Nottingham University Business School climbs FT World MBA
rankings
Nottingham University Business School has climbed an impressive
seven places in an independent worldwide ranking of the world's leading
100 full-time MBA programmes.
Nottingham has jumped to 93rd place in
the Financial Times MBA 2007 rankings from last year's placing at 100 and is
one of just 15 UK business schools to appear in the international table,
which recognises the quality of both teaching and research.
Director
of Nottingham University Business School Professor Alistair Bruce said: "To
put this year's performance into context, the FT Global 100 is becoming
increasingly competitive and we're competing against the top US schools,
national flagship schools and a number of specialist graduate business
schools. From a reputational and marketing perspective, our continued
appearance in the ranking is hugely significant.
"We are the only
Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 5 rated UK business school to appear
simultaneously in the FT Global 100 MBA list, the FT European Masters top 25
and the Economist Intelligence Unit's Global 100 MBA list."
Among the
areas in which the Nottingham University Business School was judged to have
improved were:
The diversity of its international students and
staff.
Value for money - the salary performance of MBA graduates in the
three years after graduation in this year's ranking showed an average 89
per cent increase compared to last year's figure of 78 per
cent.
Nottingham was also placed in the top 20 in terms of encouraging
greater career progression.
The publishing power of its academics -
Nottingham was placed in 73rd position for the quality of research appearing
in a list of 40 top international journals.

Nottingham named university of the year 2006年11月23日
ノッティンガム大学がTIMESの最優秀校に選ばれました。
Nottingham University has received a First for its efforts to create
a genuinely international institution. It was named higher education
institution of the year by The Times Higher Education Supplement.
Nottingham was rewarded after its pioneering work in creating a global
university, with campuses in China and Malaysia opening in the past
twelve months. The new sites are now home to 4,000 students, and exchange
programmes mean staff and students can move easily between the campuses.
"The campus in Nottingham is fantastic and the links with Malaysia
now means we have the chance go on an exchange there, one of my friends
just got back and he loved it," said Tom Strange, a fourth year
medical student.
A major US education company is bidding to become Britain’s first
for-profit private university. Kaplan International, a division of
the Washington Post newspaper company, is preparing to apply to the
Privy Council to award its own degrees, putting it on a collision
course with the UK’s traditional universities. The company already
has a sizeable presence in the UK’s professional education market
and will initially want to offer degrees in courses it already provides
at its UK centres, such as law, business studies and accountancy,
according to its chief executive, William Macpherson.
